We are looking for a highly motivated:

Business Development Manager
(Located in Darmstadt, near Frankfurt, Germany)

You will be joining our Marketing team that is located in Germany, Darmstadt. This team works closely with Sales and R&D and includes both Application Development and Product Management. As Business Development Manager you will create value by ensuring the effective use of resources, for development projects as well as for our current business.

Key responsibilities

  • Work very closely with Global Marketing Director and the ABE leadership team to conceptualise and deliver our strategy to achieve substantial growth
  • Assessing market place synergies and developing critical mass within defined market place segments
  • Take a central role in researching, prioritising and recommending collaborations and acquisitions
  • Responsibility to run and support the product driven management process
  • Shared accountability for the R&D prioritisation and investment for Business Development projects
  • Find and implement external funding for Business Development projects
  • Revenue and margin responsible within Business Developments segments

Required qualifications and key skills

  • Industry knowledge and understanding of ingredients industries essential – food including bake, feed, technical or specialty chemical
  • Technical degree e.g. in Bio-technology, Chemistry, food Chemistry or solid experience in life science industry
  • Business Development experience essential, gained through up to 3 years’ experience in a similar or supporting function
  • M&A experience & MBA preferred combined with financial analysis/modelling skills
  • A profound interest in identifying, understanding and meeting market and customer needs
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Proven commercial skills; results driven. Experience with concluding major deals
  • Organisational sensitivity; able to manage horizontal relationships; team player
  • Fluency in English; other relevant languages like German, Spanish would be a positive
  • Willingness and capability to travel internationally 40-50%
